American Artist Magazine describes Dale Jarrett’s original pencil drawings as “proof that it’s often quiet works that speak the loudest.” His technique “calls to mind the drawings of Serat,” writes author Terry Sullivan in the new book The Best of Sketching and Drawing.

Dale Jarrett grew up on the Great Plains of western Kansas and attended Emporia State University, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1984. He has worked in a variety of media including drawing, painting and sculpture. His art has been displayed in numerous group and solo exhibitions throughout the country. Jarrett's drawings have received over forty awards in the past ten years including "Best of Show" at the Winter Park Sidewalk Arts Festival, the Old Town Arts Festival, the Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival, Artscape, and the Des Moines Arts Festival.

“The subjects in the work are imagined, rather than actual places or renditions of photographs. All the drawings are original compositions created in various forms of carbon including: carbon pencil, carbon stick, charcoal and/or carbon crayon (conté). Erasers and stumps are used to subtly manipulate the drawing materials. Created on Arches 100% cotton paper, the drawings are capable of retaining their original integrity for generations.”
