ARTIST INFORMATION CONTACT INFORMATION

"A Closer Look"....that's what fine-art photographer Cheryl Rice suggests you take when viewing her distinctive, dynamic work. Her large-format Polaroid emulsion transfers have intriguing wrinkles, tears and textures not seen in traditional photographs. Rice also shows Polaroid image transfers, which are softer, more painterly-looking visions that she often reworks with oils, pencils and pastels. New in 2000 are Rice's SX-70 manipulations, a combination of photo-realism and fantasy that delight the eye. As with all of Cheryl's Polaroid work, these are available as originals only. Clients are assured of receiving unique, one-of-a-kind images.

Cheryl Rice is a proud graduate of Lansing Community College's Photographic Imaging Technology Program, where she learned many of the techniques she uses in her art work today. Currently serving as a Creative Uses Consultant to the Polaroid Corporation, Rice enjoys sharing her artistic enthusiasm and skills with others by teaching photography classes and workshops statewide on Polaroid transfer techniques. Recent participants at Rice's workshops include professional photographers, mixed-media artists, and an extraordinary group of challenged children and young adults who were part of Genesee County's 1997 Very Special Arts Festival.
